Verbund is Austria`s leading electricity producer and transporter, one of the leading hydropower producers and one of the most profitable energy companies in Europe. With around 2.400 employees Verbund generates an annual turnover of around 3.0bn Euros. With 107 hydroelectric power plants the group produces roughly 85% of the electricity in Austria – consisting of only renewable hydropower. 15% is gained from three modern thermal power plants. Therefore the group ranks among Europe`s most environmentally friendly electricity producers and covers nearly half of the domestic electricity demand. With successful business relationships in more than 20 european countries, as well as subsidiaries/joint ventures in 14 countries, Verbund is also a very strong international partner. Two thirds of Verbund`s turnover is generated outside of Austria. For more than 3 years now, Verbund has also been successful in the end customer sector in Austria: 130.000 private customers, as well as 5.000 business clients obtain electricity from Verbund, 100% from clean domestic hydropower.
